April is National Poetry Month, and has been since way back in 1996 when the Academy of American Poets decided their favorite form of writing needed at least thirty days of sustained attention every year. They suggest a different way of celebrating poetry for every day of April, ranging from the obvious (reading a poem) to the ambitious (lobbying your congressperson). We'll do our part by providing this list of recent favorite poetry books, all of which show that the art of versification is alive and well.
