That's been our goal since we opened on this island. Sometimes it has meant a hometown smile of recognition, or taking extra time to find the perfect gift for your five-year-old, and other times it's meant using the most up-to-date technology to solve our customers' surprisingly varied requests. We update our networks and databases, surf the web, and answer emails not because we find the technology entertaining, but because we find you entertaining. And we want to stay connected with you.
We love talking with you, giving book advice, and swapping stories. We believe our store has a special atmosphere—a special sense of place that is essential to our island community. Our favorite way to see our customers is in person, but we know you can't always do that. That's why we've made it possible to search for and order books right on our site. From here, you have access to pretty much every title under the sun, all able to be shipped right to your door with the maximum of convenience in the minimum of time.
A Note About Shipping and Returns
Our longtime customers know that we've always provided free shipping for the orders we take directly, but things are a little more complicated for web orders. The price of automation, you might say.
- You can order online for in-store pickup—that's still free.
- You can order online for shipment anywhere in the US. If your total is more than $50, ground shipping is free. If not, shipping charges will apply, depending on where your order is going, what's in it, and how fast you want it to get there.
- If you're patient enough to contact us when the store is open by phone or email (and we'd love to hear from you) we're happy to waive the charges and send your books for free to any US address.
As for returns, we're happy to exchange or issue a refund on returned merchandise with your accompanying receipt, as long as the item is something we've sold within the last year. Web orders and other shipments must be physically returned to us before a credit will be made.
Due to the nature of eBooks, all sales of eBooks are final and nonrefundable.
